Walls of Uzbekistan

A year after a fast-paced sleep-deprived cross-eyed trip around Uzbekistan, I have finally managed to go through my photos. While I visited several markets, with all manner of heady spices, reams of colourful fabrics and milk in carrier bags (!), and decided I would add a selection of these market shots into try TRAVEL TALES/ OPEN FOR BUSINESS portfolio; and keep my TRAVEL TALES/ UZBEKISTAN portfolio focussed on walls. Yes, walls!

Uzbekistan has walled cities such as Khiva and Bukhara, both with well preserved ancient walls, and these cities along with Samarkand are home to so many stunning monuments decorated in beautiful ceramic tiles – mosques, madrassas, minarets… So walls are a ‘thing’ in Uzbekistan. Here are a selection of the selection of my homage to Uzbek walls! Follow the link above to see the full set.
